It's finally festival season, giving us a bit of normality in our otherwise loud everyday life. What would be better suited here than to revisit concerts and events? That's what the Taiwanese folk/ black metal band Bloody Tyrant thought too, who will start their almost one-month EU tour next week!
Back story
Bloody Tyrant is a folk/black metal band from the countryside of Nantou County, formed at the end of 2008. After listening to a few songs, you will hear a significant impact of western folk music, inspired by far east tunes. The traditional pipa, along with the melodic flute melody and the relevant brute singing and guitars, give you a familiar and, at the same time, utterly foreign impression in new ways! The band released their first album in 2009, "Dawn of Doomsday," which was named fast, brutal, evil and dark.
In the same year, they were invited to play at the Korean Downfall festival. With the death metal band Seed, Bloody Tyrant played with the Japanese thrash metal band Deaflock in Taiwan the following year. In 2012, Bloody Tyrant released the EP "The Overture of Sun Moon Lake" with the experimental addition of the traditional instrument Pipa. The background for this album was about the mythologies of the Sun Moon Lake in Taiwan. The EP is titled "overture" to serve as a prelude to the following conceptual album, leading listeners into more intriguing stories of the Sun Moon Lake.
Their second album, "The Legacy of Sun Moon Lake," which came out in 2015, had deeper storytelling about the Sun Moon Lake. The stories from "The Legacy of Sun Moon Lake" were based on Taiwanese mythology. The twin dragons swallow the sun and moon from the Sun Moon Lake. Two years later, "Solitary Eagle" was published as the fourth album of the band's history. This time, storytelling was based on one of the tales on mountain accidents in a prose collection of the same title, dealing with the mountain's fury, the loss of mythology and human faith.

With their powerful sound, Bloody Tyrant combines powerful heavy metal guitars, growls and mystic melodies with a hint of European medieval battle influence. It gives their listeners many facets of the band´s sound in folklore and heavy tunes.

Endlich ist wieder Festivalsaison, was uns ein Stück Normalität in unseren sonst so lauten Alltag zurückbring! Was wäre hier nun besser geeignet, als Konzerte und Veranstaltungen zu besuchen? Das dachte sich auch die taiwanesische Folk/ Black Metal Band Bloody Tyrant, die nächste Woche ihre knapp einmonatige EU-Tour starten wird!
Bloody Tyrant ist eine Folk/ Black Metalband aus dem ländlichen Nantou County, die Ende 2008 gegründet wurde. Wenn ihr euch ein paar Songs angehört habt, werdet ihr einen deutlichen Einfluss westlicher Folkmusik hören, die von fernöstlichen Melodien inspiriert sind. Die traditionelle Pipa, begleitet von der melodischen Flötenmelodie, brachialen Gesang und den und dem dazugehörigen Gitarrensound geben auf neue und doch vertraute Art und Weise ganz neue Eindrücke. Die Band veröffentlichte 2009 ihr erstes Album „Dawn of Doomsday“, welches als schnell, brutal, böse und dunkel betitelt wurde. Im selben Jahr wurden sie als Gastband des koreanischen Downfall Festivals eingeladen. Mit der Death Metal Band Seed spielte Bloody Tyrant im folgenden Jahr mit der japanischen Thrash Metal Band Deaflock in Taiwan. 2012 veröffentlichten Bloody Tyrant die EP „The Overture of Sun Moon Lake“, mit der experimentellen Ergänzung des traditionellen Instruments Pipa. Der Hintergrund für dieses Album handelte sich um die Mythologien des Sonne-Mond-Sees in Taiwan. Die EP trägt den Titel "Overture", um als Auftakt für das folgende Konzeptalbum zu dienen, das die Zuhörer in faszinierendere Geschichten über den Sonne-Mond-See führt.
Ihr zweites Album „The Legacy of Sun Moon Lake“, das 2015 herauskam, erzählte tiefergehende Geschichten über den Sonne-Mond-See, bei dem die Zwillingsdrachen Sonne und Mond aus dem besagten See "verschlucken". Zwei Jahre später erschien mit „Solitary Eagle“ das vierte Album der Bandhistorie. Dieses Mal basierten die Erzählungen über Bergunfälle in einer gleichnamigen Prosasammlung, in der es um die Wut des Berges, den Verlust der Mythologie und des menschlichen Glaubens ging. Mit ihrem kraftvollen Sound kombinieren Bloody Tyrant eingängige Heavy Metal-Gitarren, Growls und mystische Melodien mit einem Hauch europäischer mittelalterlicher Einflüsse. Es vermittelt dem Zuhörer viele Facetten der Band in Folklore und brachialen Melodien.
Die Mitglieder rund um Bloody Tyrant bringen ihren neuesten Song 劍士皆亡 Kenshi Subete Heyru für die kommende Tour mit. Auch ist es nach kurzer Zeit ein erneutes Wiedersehen, denn die Band wird zum zweiten Mal Europa besuchen!
