6 years of Discomfort Wings!

Exactly 6 years ago, I re-created Discomfort Wings after my journey to Seoul in 2019. Over the years, I was able so far to cooperate with bands of 53+ countries around the world on all continents, as well the Korean and Taiwanese Embassy of Germany in Berlin and more contacts on different ways. Since 2021, I monthly available on 674.FM in cologne with an own online radio broadcast.

Throw back
Around the 90s/00s, a mass of Japanese Anime aired on TV worldwide, which created the first interest over soundtracks. With the beginning of YouTube and MySpace, it was already possible of listening international music, which brought me in 2006 to the first J-Rock concert in cologne.
The following years, I discovered heavy tunes via online from South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand. 2010, and suddenly blog spot appeared, the first era of blogging! During that time, there was already the website name "Discomfort Wings" til 2013. After visiting Tokyo/ Japan in 2014, I booked a flight for April 2019 to Seoul/ South Korea ...
Re-create DW in 2019 with band Lustrouble
During the vocation, it was a great experience to discover so many underground bands! It was also the kindness of the people, who is still in my mind. It was the start and motivation of re-creating the blog, after get to know band Lustrouble.

TRASH (Taiwan)
I discovered band TRASH in 2010 online via Youtube. TRASH are founded in 2009 in Taipei and are signed under Warner Music Taiwan. They were my first ever Taiwanese Rock band I listened too and been part of Discomfort Wings since the beginning. Since 2020, I featured almost every release of the band. Thank you so much for your trust in all these years! Words can not describe it...

Sweet Mullet (Thailand)
I discovered Sweet Mullet in 2010 online via Youtube as well. They were my first ever Thai Rock band I listened too and been part of Discomfort Wings since 2021. Sweet Mullet started their journey in Bangkok's underground and are one of the original founders for the heavy Thai scene. Signed under "genie records", the countries biggest label, I had in 2023 the honor to feature them! Thank you so much for be part of it and let me do this! Words can not describe it...

Hyro the Hero (USA)
Starting his journey in 2007 by moving from Houston (Texas) to Los Angeles, he soon released his first mixtapes. Hyro the Hero is an American solo artist, currently based in Nantes (France) and features an amount of skills in Genres. Focused on Rap, Rock & Metal, he played a bunch of tours and festivals, including the Summer Sonic Festival in Japan! The last years, he released an amount of successfull records with featured artists like Alter Bridge, Disturbed, Hollywood Undead, Ice Nine Kills and many more...

NUTEKI (Belarus)
Just discovered them around 2015 with 'WIND INSIDE' ! Based from Minsk and founded in Russia, they are in the industry since 2008 and been part of the Eurovision Song Contest semi-finals 4 times. NUTEKI sings in Belarusian, Russian and English language, as well toured in Europe, Asia and the US.

Uuhai (Mongolia)
Uuhai played through their Europe Tour 2024 tour at such events like Hell Fest and combines heavy and traditional tunes! It's a fascinating country with a unique language and culture. I'm looking forward to getting to know more about it through your music. See you next year on your next tour

"A son of Rap & Metal" - Sekro#8 is a Spanish speaking solo artist and a unique person. Through your music, I get to know a new underground scene, of Hip Hop and Art. You are such an inspiring person. Sekro#8 features through different releases Rap & Nu Metal. Hip Hop Roots Festival Mallorca
Sekro#8 has two underground festivals with his girlfriend and manager Tara Pink: Hip Hop Roots and Hip Hop Skills. They help other artists, to sing for the first time and accomplished goals, "that's the vision of the true hip hop culture."

Disconnected (France)
I get to know band Disconnected - through the Gamescom 2022! They were the opening act of the Gaming event Metal Hellsinger, which featured an amount of insane heavy bands. Based from Troyes, they were the first ever French band I introduced here. After playing numerous gigs in France, they opened Tremonti's European tour in 2018 and played another 24 shows in 17 countries, especially in Great Britain, Germany and France. The band also performed in 2022 at Hellfest and Wacken Open Air in Germany and many more!

Turkish rock star Batu Akdeniz has joined 2024 the blog, when he forces with iconic rock drummer Simon Kirke, known for his work with Free and Bad Company. Batu is "the hope for the new generation of Turkish rock music." EIDOLON are an Bacolod, island Negros-based Metalcore band from the Philippines. The members are known for their dynamic live performances and sound, that blends elements of Modern Metalcore, Progressive Metal. Some of you are maybe familiar with this band from the Wacken Metal Battle Philippines in 2023 and 2024, who made it two times under the top 5 of the countries choice.

We know each other really for almost 10 years! That's insane! Goofys Holiday are an japanese Rock, Pop, Punk band, which were as well part of the legendary BECK Anime Soundtrack! Based in Numazu, prefecture Shizuoka (15km away from Mount Fuji) since 1994, they played in the late 90s in New York and celebrated this year there 30th anniversary! Arigatou gozaimasu!!!

This band was the first ever band I represented from Africa! In almost every radio show releted to European bands & South Africa, they have been featured. This band is an rock duo from Pretoria and plays great rock-pop songs. They almost released every 1-2 months a new song during the last years and are insane active in what they are doing!

Against the Sun (USA)
This band is as well from the US and stands for the impressive Indie scene. Active since 2014 and based in Los Angeles, I think this group is a young band with an old soul. When you hear through there songs, the Breaking Benjamin vibes which reminds me of the good old 2000s can not be ignored. Over the last 3 years, they really developed into an even more cool band, which I think people will hear about more in the future!

Wow! They were my 4th ever post on this blog! Active since 2013 in York, they stand for the heavy Post-Hardcore scene in the UK! Over the years, they played an amount of concerts and festivals, such as the Slum Dunk Festival. Don't underrate the Indie Rock & Metal scene here, it's quite huge with such amazing bands! Based from Santiago de Chile since 2015, this band represents the Japanese Visual Kei scene from Chile and are part of Discomfort Wings since the beginnig, but we know each other many years right before everything started. The group released a variety of songs, which embrace multiple music genres such as rock, metal, synth, djent and goth.

I get to know them in person, here on the Dokomi Convention 2022 in Düsseldorf (Germany)! The only official Final Fantasy Cover band with an original releated logo to the game. They cover the unique classic songs of the Japanese cult game into Symphonic Metal. A must for every fan! The group have visited an amount of concerts and Anime conventions around Modena/ Milan and more!

Deep as Ocean (Italy)
Around 2021, I get to be connected into the Italian heavy scene. Deep as Ocean are the 2nd band around Milan I ever featured and stands for the amazing Metal scene there! The band's journey started by two brothers, Alberto (Guitar) and Riccardo (Drums) in 2016. Matt (Vocals), Matteo (Bass) and Manuel (Guitar) joined the band soon afterwards. For the following years, DOA created their own significant sound as Metalcore / Post-Hardcore band from Milan in Italy.

We get to know each other online 2021 on the raising moment of his carrer. Based from Indonesia, he has to become known via Youtube during the lockdown with international rock cover songs, such as a cover version of the German band Scorpions's "Wind of Change". Over the last years, he has become one of the leading online personalities in Indonesia, including tv and commercial.
